I saw this interesting DIY project on the fabulous Design*Sponge a while ago and decided to give it a go myself. I made two sizes and they have ended up as a little piece of wall art by the front door. I am toying with the idea of dying them, but they are quite nicely understated in their natural state, what do you think?

Leave them as they are, the texture on wall of the same colour gives interest, which is enough I think.
ReplyDeleteI think thats a turks head, a nautical knot. Yes I know, what a bore, but its worth looking up some of the more fancy knots - they can look pretty fab out of thier original context as you've shown. Or you could find and old anchor or ships wheel to go with them... yes I was kidding. Funny, while googling my facts about the turks head I ended up at the blog you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you buy the cotton rope for this project? All I seem to be able to find is nylon and polyester--worried it will melt If I really use it.
ReplyDeleteThanks
